Open Lab Friday Night
.Beginners and advanced students are welcome in these classes, as everyone works on their own with guidance from Alicia.
Make a project you’ll be proud of and take the guesswork out of sewing. You will also learn how to navigate pattern instructions. Students will learn how to navigate a pattern and basic constructionand finishing techniques.
I highly encourage beginners to work from a commercial pattern such as Simplicity, New Look, McCalls etc. These contain vocabulary, instructions and lots of information to help you learn the construction process.
Select a pattern that is labeled “easy, 2-hour, learn to sew or beginner.” In general, a pattern with fewer pieces will go together quicker. Garments like pajama pants, simple skirts, jackets and bath robes are good choices.
Bring to the first class:
Pattern, fabric, notions, pins and pin cushion
